In 2013 Eastern Guruma became responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining landscaping for Kangi Camp at Fortescue Metals’ Solomon Mine. This project involved the challenge of establishing a lawn on sloping banks around the accommodation facilities. The Eastern Guruma landscaping team used a hydro-mulcher to first seed the banks with grass, which allowed them to plant and condition the lawn without risk of injury to employees.

Now that the lawn is established, the team use an autonomous mower, for ongoing landscaping maintenance.

The Grounds Maintenance contract involves; maintenance of lawns and plants, keeping all areas tidy, beautification of Kangi Camp, landscaping around Solomon mine site offices, and extensive spray programs for control of weeds.
